I deleted the Darkest Hour Folder.

I saw also a folder called 'Darkest Hour Beta 1a Incremental Patch'.

Should I delete that folder as well???

Yes, you'll need to delete any and all previous DH content from your Red Orchestra folders.

I think I messed it up.

Last night, half asleep, I downloaded it, and I could see the animated Intro but there was an error whenever I tried to join a server.

I now have deleted the Darkest Hour Folder and the DH Beat 1a Incremental Patch Folder.

Then, I restarted my computer.

Now, I still have DH listed in my Steam Games, and there still is the DH start up icon that appears on my start up screen.


Whenever I try and download the game from the original post here, DH game tries to launch ("Preparing to launch DH").

It does not download.

Can anyone please help me so I can get DH 3.0 to work???

OK, I think I figured it out.

Once you delte the folders, you go to your Steam Account and click on Darkest Hour and delete its local content.

DH 3.0 is now downloading.

You should only do Bookreading contest. while half asleep in the middle of the night, NOT install software

How can numbskulls like myself who were so amp'd about 3.0 they didn't delete 2.0 and are now stuck in limbo start over and fix problem...Steam support says "not their problem, contact 3rd party mod support"!!!???

People are remembering the old Steam trick of deleting the ClientRegistry.blob file and then letting Steam repair it, right? (After deleting the DarkestHour pre-3.0 files)

Best thing to do is open your redorchestra foled and DELETE any Darkeshour folders in there,
shut steam down and restart it, then download darkesthour again.
you may also have to delete you client reg blob as suggested above.

There's actually a .blob relating to update status or something like that in your Steam folder too. That's what the cause of update issues usually is. If you delete that then restart Steam, it'll initially try to download all your games again, but will quickly realise which ones are already there (all but DH) and will then continue downloading properly to completion.

it's important to delete the old DH start icon aswell and make steam create a new one on your desktop. when i use the old one, the game works but i get "unknown steam error" when i try to join a server.

When we was waiting for our awesome game, i decided to delete RO in totality.
2.0, DH testing,MN 1.3 and all the mutators,lol.
3.0 works fine since the beginning, without mismatch errors...
